I'm fairly addicted to British television. This is one of the best of the best of the best. Smart and well-paced with great acting, it's quick to suck you in emotionally.

I have bought the "Complete" set of this show, being quite expensive, but worth every penny. The series is about a crack team of detectives who reopen unsolved crimes and try to solve them.
Usually something sparks this like a dead body, skull, etc. Series 1 is a very strong start for "Waking the Dead" and you could see right from the start that the series showed promise.
While not all the episodes were good in this one, the good ones outshon the average, as none were bad. The first episode ever, "Pilot" recieved an award of "Excellent" from me, being completely enthralling.
A great start and the introduction to the characters was great. It got "Very Good", one rating below excellent.
It was really intriguing and kept you guessing. I guessed the twist but it was still really enjoyable. I will leave my ratings at the bottom of this review.
The next one, "The Blind Beggar" was easily the weakest in this set. It was rather dull and was not exciting. In fact, you didn't even care how it concluded.
It was watchable. I gave this one "Average" The level shifts to an all new level here with "A Simple Sacrifice" gaining a score of "Excellent", a massive improvement over the previous one.
This is one of my personal favorites from the show. There was so many people it could be and it was really hard to guess what was going on.
An excellent episode. The final episode in this set, "Every Breath You Take" was pretty good also. This episode got "Good" which is "Good. Great stuff.

She usually gets around it by forcing her way through his perceptions and doing what she knows is right anyway. He is an intelligent man who comes from the streets of London.
All he's ever wanted to do is be a policeman. He is methodical and as he relaxes into his role, he is letting his imagination help him think about the crimes they come across.
I wish some American actors would watch abit of British tv to seen how it's done. Don't get me wrong.
We have some great actors here, but other than some primetime actors such as David Schwimmer, very few know what it's like or have the ability to get their teeth into something worthwhile.

Soooooooooo, on a search for british crime drama I cave across waking the dead, which I had never heard of.
I ordered this set to check it out, the storyline sounded promising. Well I am here to say it has been a long long time, if ever, a tv show has had me on the edge of my seat.
What a treat!! Totally gripping tv, I immediately ordered series 2 and 3 and I thank GOD I purchased a region free dvd player which has enabled me to discover shows like this.
If you've not seen this series before, you are in for a treat! Brilliant series. Another wonderful series from the WTD team. I would highly recommend this series.
It's a terrible shame that the BBC has just confirmed that there will be no more made after Series 9. Another wonderful series goes the way of Inspector Lynley et al Brilliant service from Amazon as normal.
