This took me out of the movie and made me realize I was watching one. Although, due to the overcrowded theater and my seat at the front of said congregation, I was better able to notice the details that appeal to the inner cattiness that we all possess but hesitate to admit.
It wasn't because he was sexy, although many in the crowd would disagree, but boy, that man can move. It has been said in numerous interviews that "Magic Mike" is based loosely on Tatum's past life as a stripper.
That is easy to believe when he can dance like he does, making it look so easy. It's as if there is not one muscle in his body that hasn't been elasticized for maximum efficiency.
I was surprised at the number of scenes in this film that involved naked breasts. The studio did know its demographic here, right?
They must have slipped those in to placate the poor straight males in the audience who might have found themselves somehow dragged to this film despite multiple protests.
We see Munn's breasts within the first five minutes of the film. This would be less surprising in a film that would draw more than ten men to each viewing.
However, despite the boobies, it was refreshing to see a film that finally appealed to a woman's sexuality without including the meat head entertainment that films like Fast and Furious bring to the table.
Here, there was all of the beef and barely any brawn. It was nice to, for once, be recognized as a demographic all our own.
Not every film has to be A Beautiful Mind. Woo hoo!!!! A professional stripper named Mike takes a newbie under his well-developed wing to teach him the ropes about being a man: how to pick up women, how to party hard and how to make easy money.
The problem is, the newbie is 19, irresponsible and immature. Director Steven Soderbergh got the idea for this story while talking with Channing Tatum during the filming of "Haywire.
Soderbergh was very interested, so scriptwriter Reid Carolin was called in to do the honors. Our theater was packed with young women who squealed and hooted through the first two-thirds of this movie.
Had it been possible, they too, would have stuffed money into those thongs the men wore. Tatum broke into Hollywood's B-list by gyrating in a few teenie-bopper flicks, e.
He moved into action films like "G. Joe" based on his noteworthy physique, plus a couple of two-hankie chick flicks like "The Vow.
Yes girls, he does strip! But he also has a business to run and a payroll to meet. By the final credits, there were some disappointed audience members, in fact one woman said, "Why'd they have to go and put in a story, too!
Yeah, the story is flimsy, but all that eye candy made it easy to forgive "A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down Kudos to the folks who spent the extra money to give us great final credits: the actor's name and a shot of the character.

All the actors have bodies to die for, and Channing himself was apparently a stripper before he became an actor.
Magic Mike is never going to be nominated for an Oscar but it good to watch. Don't look for moral issues to be explored as these aren't there. Mike takes a young boy under his wing but the boy's straight laced sister doesn't like it.
Clue: Mike tries his charm on her I leave you to imagine the rest. Sadly, I thought for some reason that it was going to be a comedy because I knew "Fluffy" Gabriel Englese was in it.
No laughs though, and I was so bored I fell asleep half way through. But if virtually naked men giggling their bits and dancing provocatively presses your buttons then it might be right for you!

The kid was fit and Tatum is fit but overall the story is a bit blah. Tatum has saved all this money and just gives it away and doesn't seem too bothered.
Also the kids sister doesn't stop her brother in the end and doesn't seem bothered that he is doing what he is doing. After a while the dancing is the same, just gyrating and a few humps.
I would hate to go to a club like that! What makes me laugh is that women can scream over some pecs and abs, while men need actual strippers!

A masterpiece of its own and in the making, The presentation and showing is excellent, not rude but enjoyable at the same time enticing you to watch, keeps you glued to the seat waiting for what is next.
Male strippers who wouldn't watch now lets face it, we are all human. Channing and the cast do a fabulous job playing their roles, who push it to the limit.
Want more hints, well okay just one more, the dancing is fantastic and with the story being just as great. Now everyone can learn from this movie, what you want to learn is your business.
Full on entertainment for young and old. I rated this an A grade plus ideal for sitting putting you feet up with the popcorn relaxing to something very different with plenty of things going on so you wont have to much time for anything else.
So see for yourself and be the judge you won't be disappointed. So get started and enjoy. Firstly this isnt a rom com or an american version of the full monty [ thank god ] or even a cheesey hen party film.
This is a rather indy take on men struggling as being male strippers. Matthew McConaughey is excellent [ never thought I would say that] yes excellent as the older club owner [ rather as Reynolds was in Boogie nights ] but unlike Boogie Nights this films sells its self short for going for the 15 certificate ; the dancing is quite tame and you dont exactly get to see alot ; I guess this is why it does really please the audience fully [ a stripper has to tease but untimately to strip].
I guess not Soderberghs finest but maybe this will stick around and become a guilty pleasure cult classic [ as Show girls or Dancing at the blue iguana ].
