I do realize they were reacting to nothing most of the time but they're even bad when there aren't any special effects! The second hour on Skull Island was exciting--full of great effects and fights.
Still I've seen most of these creatures in the "Jurassic Park" films. It got to the point where I just couldn't wait for him to drop.
It's never explained. Also the score was pretty monotonous. Some of the violence also is pretty extreme for small kids.
The film did some things right. All the supporting actors were just great and made up for the lousy performances by the three leads. Kong himself looked great--even if they did change him from an ape to a gorilla.
I never thought I'd say this but even the remake was better than this! That one at least moved, they explained how they got Kong to NY and it is kind of fun to see Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange in a movie like that.
I give this a 7 but that's for the special effects. Otherwise I didn't like it. Let's see if Peter Jackson can do a movie that runs only two hours!

The acting in this film isn't bad, but it definitely won't win any awards for it. The story has characters Bill Randa John Goodman and Houston Brooks Corey Hawkins piggybacking on an expedition to an uncharted island to test their "hollow earth" theory.
Reilly plays a surprisingly funny WW2 vet marooned on Skull Island. The film takes place in and loves to remind you with CCR and old technology as if it was a hundred years ago.
Kong: Skull Island pays homage to Apocalypse Now quite frequently even though it seems a bit excessive at times.
Kong looked good, almost all the creatures looked cool and all the fights between them looked really good, especially in IMAX 3D.
Some of the green screen effects, like backgrounds behind characters, were distractingly bad. Ultimately, you get some great stuff out of all the effects if you're not looking too closely.
The characters are more hollow than the earth according to the film's characters themselves , the story is mediocre, but the effects reign king in this film adaptation.

Desi lung, filmul a fost constituit bine pe 2 planuri:unul pe insula,care surprindea viata creaturilor si a lui King Kong - as putea spune planul fantastic al filmului pt ca nu are nicio legatura cu cel de'al doilea plan cel constituit de acele scene memorabile cu King Kong in varful Empire States Building din New York.
Copiat sau nu ,filmul dupa desfasurarea subiectului cred ca e mai bun decat cele facute in ultimul deceniu pt simplul fapt ca tehnologia a avansat iar efectele speciale si sonore au fost foarte impunatoare.
Imi pare rau pentru acel final trist care mi s'a parut cam brutal. Puteau sa gaseasca o alta solutie si filmul tot ar fi fost bun.
